Rotary Tiller Blade Installation And Adjustment

Rotary tiller blades typically come in two types: straight hook blades and curved blades. Curved blades are further divided into left-curved and right-curved types. Straight hook blades offer less resistance when entering the soil but have poor turning performance and are prone to weed entanglement. They are suitable for cultivating harder soils with fewer weeds. Curved blades offer better turning and breaking up of soil and are suitable for paddy fields and relatively moist, loose, dry-cultivated land.

The installation method of the curved blades has a significant impact on the levelness of the tilled surface. The installation method must be selected according to different cultivation requirements. The staggered installation method involves the left and right curved blades being installed symmetrically and alternately on the blade shaft, resulting in a level surface suitable for flat cultivation. The inward installation method involves both left and right curved blades bending towards the center of the blade shaft, creating a ridge in the middle of the tilled surface, suitable for ridging or furrowing operations. The outward installation method involves both left and right curved blades bending towards both ends of the blade shaft, creating a shallow furrow in the middle of the tilled surface, suitable for ridging or combined rotary tillage and ditching operations.

When installing the blades, pay attention to the rotation direction of the blade shaft to prevent incorrect or reverse installation. The blades must be symmetrically arranged at both ends of the blade shaft centerline, and the blade back must never be inserted into the soil. The installation direction of the rotary tiller's plow blade bends should be determined based on the soil surface conditions. For ridging operations, the plow blade bends should be installed outwards; for furrow filling operations, they should be installed inwards; and for general tillage, a mixture of plow blade bends should be installed.

On moldboard plows, the round plow blades are typically positioned along the centerline of the plow body assembly to cut small tree roots and weeds, improving cover quality.

Tillage depth can be adjusted using a specialized tillage angle adjustment device, such as a drive motor that changes the depth of the plow blade rollers within the soil.
